What are the advantages and disadvantages of the material of the PPF?

At present, there are five common types of PPF materials on the market, which are: PU, PVC, TPH, TPE (TPEE), TPU. In a way, the material determines the quality of an PPF, so what are the advantages and disadvantages of the above five kinds of PPF, which are better (best)?
1、PU
It is one of the earliest materials used in PPF, the scientific name is ‘polyurethane’, referred to as ‘PU’. Because it is thick and hard, the early PPF composed of this material is also commonly known as ‘rhino skin’. Now it is basically obsolete, and it is difficult to find PU material PPF on the market.
Advantages: strong toughness;
Disadvantages: poor weather resistance; Poor resistance to alkaline corrosion; Will gradually yellow: scratches can not be repaired;
2、PVC
After the PU, the first generation of PPF, scientific name ‘polyvinyl chloride’, referred to as ‘PVC,’ is thinner and softer than the PU, but it is still relatively hard and easy to yellow. It was more common in 17 and 18 years, and it has basically disappeared in the past two years.
Advantages: hard material, good impact resistance; Low price;
Disadvantages: Unable to wrap the edges; Glue off; Can not resist scratches; The service life is short, yellowing, orange peel, cracking and other phenomena within one year; Can not be recycled twice, environmental pollution;

3、TPH
In theory, this material does not exist, essentially PVC, the difference is that it adds a certain plasticizer on the basis of PVC, and the performance (yellow resistance, toughness) is better than PVC as a whole. But it is only a little better, and it is also prone to yellowing and unstable performance. In 18 and 19 years, it was hyped and popular for a while.
Advantages: Enhanced yellowing resistance; Enhanced flexibility;
Disadvantages: the performance improvement is not large, can not change the essence of PVC; Defects ibid.;
4、TPE
There is also a material called “TPEE” between plastic and rubber, its own performance is better than PVC, the price is relatively cheap, is the production of Paint Protection Film manufacturers to come up with another solution to replace PVC and TPU, but, as far as the current actual use is concerned, it is not ideal, the existence time is very short, and it is the kind that sees light and death.
Advantages: good gloss; It is not easy to leave offset prints;
Disadvantages: toughness and ductility are not good; High hardness, not easy to install;
5、TPU
It is the third generation of PPF after PVC. Unlike the previous four materials, TPU has belonged to the category of rubber, and the first four can be classified as plastic. The transition from plastic to rubber is known for automatic reduction of scratches and stretching of softness! More anti-yellowing, non-oxidation, anti-corrosion and other properties. The material used in our brand paint protective film also is TPU, which is relatively high cost-effective.
Advantages: excellent wear resistance, ozone resistance, high strength, good elasticity; At the same time, it also has good resistance to low temperature, anti-yellowing, chemical resistance and other properties, green environmental protection
Disadvantages: complex production process; Low yield; High manufacturing costs;
At present, the five major materials of PPF, the performance from good to bad ranking: the best is TPU – also one of the most ideal (best) materials for stealth PPF, followed by TPH, PVC and TPE materials are slightly inferior, and finally is PU.
